While not even in office yet, Trump held a private meeting with media anchors and executives basically letting them know just how awful they were to him. Earlier this year he threatened to initaite laws to make it easier to sue the press. As we all know by now, Trump is a contract speech fellow meaning- you sign the total Secrecy Contract and then there is correspondence, conversation, employment, business, even politics. His disdain for the press is simply the fact that they would actually cover what he has said verbatum and what he has done during the campaign. Yes folks, trying to control and threaten the press is part of a dictatorship. I’m sorry that some people are just not getting the gravity of the situation and how it effects our democracy and our children’s future. But perhaps some might listen to Christiane Amanpour, chief international correspondent and anchor at CNN during an award ceramony.
Remember, the press has certain protections and a legal team that bloggers do not have. Free speech and free press are essential for all of us and for our future.
Once again, a dissenting woe
gives lie to night’s
Once again, you are tried,
tired; as the gong
As the mention of sweet
morn glistens the
Time weeps a river.
When does the sentence fall off the page & a new oblivion step up picking up this Wire of dawn? Where do the stains of ink Perspire if not in the nooks of harm and The shade of a lower noon? Lower than an Inch? Wiser than the tooth that carves I
The forbidden spark of a thousand
What? we care the plenitude into
We blink coalesce morph stipulate
Into being the spark has been
(Dedicated to Colltales, Madelyn, Michael, Rose, Anita and all of you here fighting injustices around the world. Your work and efforts truly do matter.)
When there was one of me
and ten of them
you became small to be my sturdy side
my brother, my sister
When I coward in voice
once again failing the aptly spoken word
at what would have been – the right time
you shouldered my ignorance and silence
in a teachable moment of forgiveness
and nurtured courage to overcome fear
When everyone shouted
shut up, go home, get a life
your voice in the gentlest whisper
became the loudest in my ears
“Stand for the weak, the oppressed,
the hurting and God himself will help you”
and it gave my knees strength
When I saw failure
and the inability to overcome
felt my own weakness and discouragement
thought myself crazy to continue
in a losing battle
you sat with me in the foxhole
made me look at the stars burning bright
and said, ‘You are held’
And when you left
it was my time to become strong
to stand up against what will always be
the war and struggles in this world
that I may become small with the smallest voice
the repeater of the good done unto me
and the believer
of God’s intimate presence in this world
where most have failed to look

I went downtown to Millennium Park and held up my poster board with a message against bigotry, racism, sexism, minimization of sexual assault in the public arena, against all hate groups, and for civil protections for all.
Hundreds of people read the poster as I twiddled my thumbs, smiled, felt like a weirdo sitting and protesting by myself (hehe) but the symbolics of it had meaning. In fact it was energizing (I had never protested before). My dream would be to go to Washington and march with all the women but I know that can’t happen so I am content with holding my poster around these parts. The poster has to be re-done but when it is I will post a picture of it. The Power Of One page up as well on the site.
The handouts I made reads – (and please tell me if this sounds ok)
Power Of One- Could it Be You?
This sitting is to validate those who have felt marginalized, silenced, demoralized, polarized and deeply triggered by the presidential campaign. The normalization of using any public platform for bigotry, racism, calls for violence, devaluing diversity, and minimizing sexual assault is unacceptable. All of our experiences together should drive a deeper understanding of every issue in society to the forefront of politics. And there are no greater issues than human decency, civil rights, equality, and fostering mutual respect in diversity when it comes to relating and law. Democracy cannot be for all of us without it stemming from each of us to honor its true value and worth.
I sit here today for all of those who do not have the words that correctly depict the shock, sorrow and fears during this election campaign and its rhetoric that rumbles through our past or present experiences, both in US history and our own personal lives. I sit in solidarity even when not every issue or experience is understood by everyone in our society understanding that validation is needed on many different levels. Please stand with me against; bigotry, racism, the minimization of sexual assault, the normalization of violence, mocking the disabled, and all hate groups while standing up for everyone’s right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Thank you for reading~
Why? Because why not. I am not as intimidating as a large group, approachable for conversation, and face to face with the message. We all advocate in our own ways but however we do it, there is much work to be done!
Deep ahead a darkness cloak of sky by compass lure what was promised men a light blind steps will now endure all things which make one fear contempt for good in shadows will you move through the darkness oh man will you walk through its furor? Persecuting screams in haunting woods that hide what suffrage will overtake thee in acts of passing by the mockery of faith in shrills the hopelessness in claws Will you move through the darkness oh man will you walk through its furor? What madness to take paths destitute by vision where hunger grows and thirst may vow poisoned water as provision When you come, oh light, to this despair of failing darkness end will you cast me frail and conquered by these weakness within? Oh man how frail and weak the light is sometimes necessity for who cries out for guidance when they have no need to see? And who can tell me darkness is not the ink I write to make faith what preserves a man regardless of his might. © 2016 Tammy Mezera Book In And Out Of Unison
Power Of One
The power of one. This is my personal initiative (or conviction rather) this week. Those of you have followed my posts know I have been all over the place emotionally, mentally and even spiritually. This election has been the most challenging for me ever. It has caused me to look deeper at myself and see both the good and bad, to see the good and bad in others, to question what I think and believe, and it has triggered things from the past and continues to do so. I know I have contradictions while moving beyond the black and white of simplicity whether on spiritual, moral, ethical or societal views. It is not easy, it is a messy business.
I also know that what I am going through many others are going through as well. And what I need to separate here is that even though I am not trying to marginalize anyone, I still stand against Trump and will not move forward with those in whom promote his policy, character and agendas. Evangelicals would not place Trump in a position of power in their own church and yet many have placed him on the highest seat in US office regardless of his character. The problem I have with that is, it shows pro-birth beliefs, not Pro life. Pro Life is the celebration of all life regardless of gender, sexual orientation, nationality and race. Pro life is respect for the fact that God gave all men the choice and freedom to accept or reject Him. If God gave us this country for democracy, then he founded it with freedom for and from all religions equally as was given the separation from church and state. Pro life is celebrating and shouldering the burdens with all minority and vulnerable groups. Pro Life respects Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Atheist etc, religious protections, but those protections must be available for every religion. We should all celebrate the diversity in religion rather than minimize a specific tradition of one over another. Pro life respects the rich and poor. Pro life stands against sexual assault and its minimization. Pro Life stands up for all the children we have in our world today. Pro Life also respects the fetus, the health of the mother, fathers. This is not a black and white nor simple issue.
When people are taunted and mocked, assaulted, harmed, thrown out of their homes, refused housing and jobs and education, refused business services, cut off from families and friends because of the color of their skin, ethnic background, being lgbt or having a (physical or mental) disability, what country they came from – it is Wrong. This isn’t Pro Life. This is; Pro Bigotry, Pro Racism, Pro Subversive Legalism rather than humanitarian, Pro White, Pro Straight, Pro (name all the rest here).
We are all hypocritical if life is just a concentration on one aspect of it. But as it is, it is complex. I do not have a big enough brain to be an environmental engineer, a scientist, a doctor, a clergywoman, a teacher, a politican, parent, a scholar, a reporter, a computer programmer., etc all in one and understand all the problems in the world. Just like being a white girl from the burbs doesn’t give a diverse experience enough to understand all the cultural frustrations, challenges, abuses throughout our society. We really do need each other. Our world doesn’t have all the answers and solutions.
When bigotry, racism, violence, sexism, and prejudiced is allowed, and during this campaign openly accepted, it tears us apart. When the kind of campaign Trump ran is tolerated, accepted and then rewarded with the highest position in the United States, it symbolizes that we are no longer the Human Rights or Religious Freedom leader of the world.
We have been marginalized here. My views do not constitute all the facts, the understanding needed, the total objectivity, the total separation from ignorance, the freedom from fault, the freedom from hypocrisy, the finished growth, the perfection of love or the perfection of wisdom, I need help sometimes and I can accept that.
Like all of you, I have my convictions. The Power of One isn’t unity. The only one who can claim that is God (in my belief system). The rest of us are sometimes misunderstood, marginalized, and alone in the mix of many convictions and beliefs. But standing up for civil rights for all people is standing for freedom of religion and democracy. It is standing up for Pro Life, as it applies to everyone’s life, and their right to be protected from the harm is caused by hate and superiority entitlements. Democracy cannot just be for all of us without it stemming from each of us to honor its true value and worth.
So in the next few weeks I will be in downtown Chicago, in my little lawn chair by myself with a sign, Power Of One to validate those feel marginalized, polarized and unheard, who feel alone, who feel misunderstood and afraid, and for those who have gone through many different experiences and are triggered by this election. I can march and protest with many groups and will, but for right now it is about validating those in society whose experiences, concerns, and fears are/were minimized. While Trump may never denounce hate groups, we will and continue to do so. While he may never apologize and correct his position, we will stand together. And in the next couple of weeks for those who feel alone in the complexities of conviction and anger over injustice on all these issues, I am sitting out there for you. It may not mean much to anyone else crossing by, but for myself and my wordpress family here, I’m doing this for you because you are worth it.
A Word of Encouragement from Infinite Living ~
Change chooses it’s own garments. Sometimes very strange and unexpected ones.
Sometimes we know exactly what bothers us. We talk about it at length, discuss and dissect the projected repercussions. We find solace in the use of our intelligence to come to a logical, comfortable, understanding and conclusion.
Sometimes the overall appearance of change causes great turmoil and emotions. Lot of energies get stirred. There is no mind involved to give it language, no thoughts or words. Just an intensity in our own Being.
The sensitive or aware ones have stayed awake to the slightest hints of turbulances on the slate of their consciousness. They imbibe the energy of chaos and jitters around. They feel the discomfort but are themselves connected with trust in the larger scheme of things. That there is goodness of existence in all that ripples through.
The change is sometimes the storm or the force that…

Steven is a respected cult expert in whom I’ve read and admired for quite awhile. I am humbly sharing his thought provoking article about Trump.
I am not, however, suggesting everyone should participate in deconstructing extremist mentality online or approaching such dialog in person until pursuit of objectivity can be embraced. Emotions are high right now and many people are suffering internal and psychological triggers, intimidation and violence, ptsd, and intense fears. People should nurture themselves and find good, validating support networks rather than run to activism in this way which will backfire unless separated from it. There are many forms of activism but I also know there are also many personal priorities that are necessary to follow.
Extremist mentality is very difficult to break through and it takes years with many failures. Sometimes it is near impossible, especially when denial is the only thing that will hold the person functional after years of controlled, extremist inundation. Everyone needs their safe place and safe people before these types of walls are broken through. Not all of us are a safe place at any given time with every person or every issue.
With that said, there are many people who can approach this type of activism so posting it as a beginning reference tool.
I have been waiting for this declaration to come out. Anonymous is not part of Wikileaks or its propaganda. I’ve followed some Anon on twitter and know that many are working towards humanitarian causes, justice and fighting against ISIS. I am not a hacker. In fact after my last post about the election someone threw me offline so I myself struggle with the technological aspects of it all. I also do not know anyone in Anonymous but from what I’ve witnessed from their posts much good is done. I was so disappointed that Wikileaks promoted an agenda whereas whistleblowers who are fighting corruption and the silencing and abuse of journalists are being tainted by Wikileaks agenda. I didn’t realize stuff about Wikileaks until the election and myself wondered if Anon was a part of that. Here in this declaration you will see that they are not. We all have to fight together against corruption, human rights abuses, dictatorship and for freedom of the press, democracy, human rights, privacy issues, whistleblower protections, etc.
But I also believe in government, security and law. While it may seem contradictory to some, it really isn’t. Snowden did what he did for the sake of the American public and to maintain rights involving freedom of information and freedom of press and citizen privacy issues. That wasn’t about hacking the government, it was about preserving our democracy against the illegal surveillance on ALL US citizens, lawful or not. All of us, as a democratic society, have a right to know when our freedoms are at risk especially as law abiding, patriotic citizens who love our country and what it stands for.

I’m still having trouble processing the election. What is disturbing is that I cannot let it go. My inner world has turbulence. If this was just a political race where our differences maintained an opposition to polices that would have been much easier to resolve. Acceptance for diverse ideas, understanding fears with change, respecting opposing opinions are all par for the course with any election. But this political platform became an opposition to people’s dignity and worth. For those like myself muddling through the responses of how tolerance and love is required, I do not argue that. I just wonder however, where was that for others when a man used a high profile stage to mock, demean, and lambaste people? What policy issue could be more important than the issue of upholding the dignity of all men, mutual respect and tolerance for people of all genders, race, and religions in America? And why is there a call to be tolerant of a man who said that he would sleep with his own daughter if she wasn’t his daughter? Why is there a call for people to ignore the gross transgressions of one that will now be the highest leader of our nation?
It disturbs me. Yes, we are all sinners. We all falter. This isn’t time for anyone to be self righteous (including those who praise themselves for being so loving and tolerant of opposing views during this election). I would reserve that pat on the back for when it is just a political race that centers on policy and national issues.
The fact is, the high profile, political platform was used as an assault weapon. Assault, insult, result- a greater national divide than before. A call for peace, love and tolerance isn’t possible when the same people elect a leader who is none of those things. Now, why must I interject that here we should not become violent in response. What if we do? What if I call for violence because Trump won? What if I say, ‘Hey second amendment buddies, maybe we can do something about this!’ Would that really be so wrong? Without mincing words, that would be horrifying. And yet, this is exactly what the newly elect leader of the free world touted on the public platform. Why should you be horrified if I incited violence and yet totally ignore his incitements? This is exactly what is happening to others throughout the United States because of bigoted attitudes, racism and normalization of public contempt. To be fair, many Trump supporters are not bigoted, sexist or racist but have nevertheless justified someone who is into office. And that is the problem.
Moving on to heal as a nation requires honesty. We can’t just write pretty little posts about love, peace and healing while ignoring the public disfranchisement of minority groups. We cannot heal as a nation without public demand that the new president actually acknowledges and apologizes for his statements and sincerely work towards making amends to all he has publicly degraded for his campaign appeal. He must denounce the KKK and all hate groups. He must denounce violence against Muslims, blacks, women, etc. He must clearly state that his type of locker room talk is always unacceptable and impart some of the responsibility of sexual assault minimization by how our leaders act and speak about these issues. Until pigs fly right?
I have to admit, feeling this much disgust feels terrible. I don’t like the feeling. I don’t like feeling angry and such shock after the election. I love peace, dislikes conflict and really just wants everyone to get along. And I know I will work through it and that love, forgiveness, self evaluation, growth, and understanding are a continual work in progress for all of us. But this doesn’t mean I need ignore or stay quiet about the realities. We cannot be complacent about bigotry, racism, hate, sexual assault and expect to be united.
Those things may never be completely eradicated as all men have free will and choice. If only everyone had the freedom and choice not to be on the other end of it as well. And that is where we come in, each of us humbled by our own admission that we had, at least once in our life, turned that knob and closed the door on someone else. This is where, public accountability reinforces personal accountability and visa versa. If at this point of time we rush through all that has happened in the last two years to say- it’s over, done, get over it, move on, peace and love – we are bound to fail the opportunity of real change in ourselves and in our country. If that is, of course, what we truly want~

abandoned by an empty window
bereft of flame

now naked, fumes impatience
blown from within,
but I cannot give a time for my return –
when rain rises in an autumn
pool and the moon steals
the place of daylight,
together we can light the candle.

The Scope of Democracy’s Loss
Republican Nomination of Conservative Only Justices in US Supreme Court
Our checks and balances system, with the Republican controlled branches, may falter. This isn’t a time to ‘just get over it’. This is a time to declare accountability for an open democracy, for all people. This is a dictatorship of Republican Party and its own special interests. This isn’t just about Trump, this is about America being changed forever without the proper checks and balances in place to uphold a democratic process for all minorities, vulnerable groups, and opposing factions challenging the Republican party. Our Democracy is at stake for the next four years.
This is why when moving forward, each of us need the solid support and advocacy in place to oppose repression. While we have previously had a Democrat/Republican controlled congress/Presidency before, I do not believe we have ever had the additional one party control over the Supreme Court Justice majority. This is exactly what we are dealing with in the near future without any hope for recourse. Why the news media did not discuss this out in front at length is exactly why we need media reform, as well as many other factors.
Expect certain civil rights to be overturned. Walk away from people who tell you just to get over it, what they are really saying is- I do not want to hear about you fighting for your own personal rights. Love and peace? Love yes, with correction and with boundaries set that make democracy work for all of us, not just some. Peace? You are welcome to agree or disagree with me, but do not expect my energies to go into changing your mind or having the time to explain why I need to stand up for my country, my fellowmen, myself on addressing issues that are imperative to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Advocacy is needed. Without advocacy (more than just producing a twitter or wordpress post) certain populations have no voice. Peaceful protests, marches, letters, legal advocacy and the like all move us forward. This is the time to get excited about our own hands getting dirty for a great cause- OUR DEMOCRACY. This is the time when people of all backgrounds can nationalize on just one issue, our democracy. This is the time when despite the election and its consequential effect on all Americans and many world partners in human rights, we can do something about it.
America is great because we have a democracy. We are losing that democracy. If there was ever a time to get involved, it is now. Voting is one thing and Hillary won the popular vote but did not win the electoral one. We did that together. And we can go forward together again in the fight for our nation.
Little did we know how metaphorically it would be placed to divide our own nation further after all of us worked so very hard to achieve the civil rights, the growth, the dialog and the liberties we have today, as diverse as we are.
I cannot in good conscience make nice with those have voted Trump into office. Moving through change did not require electing a sexual predator, a narcissist, a known pathological liar, a crude and disrespectful bully, and a racist bigot into office.
To love my children, to love people, to do what is right I must stand up and separate from those who have accepted this behavior and then even more so, voted him in to lead our democracy, our nation, our America. My partner, myself, our friends, our family started to remove people from facebook, wordpress, online friends, etc., that supported Trump. These are not the right people to move forward with.
I cannot in good conscience accept a backward movement in women’s rights, in LGBT rights, in common decency and respect for all people regardless of race, color, or religion.
Trump, this is your wall. Trump voters, this is your wall. I can and will respect the choice of both democrat and republican but this doesn’t mean I owe you anything that is in contradiction to my own core values and passion for the freedoms and diversity we have in this country.
I will speak out. I do not accept Trump, his behavior or his character. This is not the wall we put up, this is the wall between dignity/common decency and anything goes to win that Trump and his supporters put up. This isn’t just about political disagreement, this is about the disgrace of a nation, the tearing down of people’s lives and civil rights, the division and degrading of others that was obviously accepted throughout the campaign and now mandated for everyone else for four more years. This isn’t the wall I built, but this is the wall I will tear down with the right people, in the right way, with moving forward to teach my children that it is wise to choose our relationships carefully with those who care about the dignity, respect, and value of all people. Trump supporters did not do this. They did not reject the man who embodies everything wrong with our country. And therefore, I need to separate from those who have encouraged such division, bigotry, prejudice and mockery of our diversity.
Yes we are moving forward, but no this isn’t together. A respectful republican perhaps, yes we could have moved forward, disagreed on certain issues, worked through on bi-partisan level. But with Trump, no. Trump supporters made their choice to divide us when he mocked someone with a disability (that would affect me), when he degraded women (that would affect me), when he minimized sexual assault (that would affect me), when he chose an anti-LGBT VP (that would affect me and my personal relationship). I’m not alone. This is the wall they chose and it wasn’t about tolerance.
Everyone that has supported Trump please just stop following me. If you wanted to work through changes in America together, the choice was there to respect all of us in the process and choose a candidate other than Trump.
The Two Worst Days In American History~
It is okay and fitting to mourn~
This is quite a difficult time. Rather than functioning under a diverse democracy we are headed into a republican Dictatorship with the Presidency, House, Senate and Supreme Court controlled by republican interests.
But here is what we didn’t lose. We didn’t lose our dignity by casting a vote for a man like Trump. We didn’t lose sight that respect for all people included women and children, black and white, straight and gay, disabled, etc. We didn’t lose the range of scope on issues for all Americans. And we certainly didn’t lose the work that still must be done to confront bigotry, discrimination, racism and hatred that exists.
I’m ashamed to be American right now. The message spoken throughout the world is, Depravity of Character. Republicans supported this just to win. They won. And we lost what America stood for tonight. Everything the republicans said they stood for in values is forever tarnished.
But this is not the time to give up or give in. Half of America still believes in dignity and freedom for ALL Americans, not just some. It was a close race which means, we are not alone, far from it. We have each other and we are strong. We will fight minority injustice. We will stand up against sexual assault. We will fight for the elderly and poor. We will stand for LGBT rights. We will fight the NRA control of congress. We will fight for healthcare for all. And we will preserve the diversity of our nation and the dignity of all life through these next four years. Republicans failed this when they supported Trump.
It is always a humble reminder that politics isn’t the object of hope we can depend on to survive and thrive. There is a much greater hope outside of politics. One that doesn’t sway or disappoint with elections. It is a humble reminder that even when America elects the most despicable leader possible, there is still a greater power who rules with love, power, respect, kindness, fairness, and true justice. We have much hope, each of us, even if it isn’t through our political system right now. It is a humble reminder that while false hopes are disappointing, their breakage leads to a better one.
It is time to rest and recoup for awhile, not give way to apathy or despondency. It is time to refresh and nurture our hearts and souls.
Democrats- You didn’t lose your dignity. Save that for self nurture right now and a renewed vision~
(UPDATE: Trump Wins Election, and more than my ego being hurt is my pride in my country, I’ve lost it for the first time in my life. I do, however, know God is still in control.)
I will heat up the Noodles for tonight. As I said, If I am wrong and Trump wins, you can beat me with a wet noodle. If I am right and Hillary wins, pour some spaghetti sauce on it and enjoy the meal! I haven’t been wrong yet and don’t plan on being wrong with this election.
In fact this was an easier call than previous elections despite the polls. The sticker shock will be when the polls have shown R voters and then an unprecedented amount of those Republican voters (women, minorities) secretly choosing the Democrat President when the votes are finally counted. This is something the polls cannot show. Dems have won the election will many less Democratic voters on previous elections. This and many other factors all favor Hillary. So yes, I’m a little smug at the moment and chilling my Champagne for tonight.
Tonight we will celebrate the first US Madam President in US history.
Tonight, the craziness of this election is over.
Tonight, we move forward.
After it is official, come back and tell me how you like the spaghetti 🙂
God is not the face of any political organization
or ministry no matter how seemingly pious
He is not Democrat or Republican, the liberal or conservative
He doesn’t sit on the US Supreme Court as a Justice
or as the President of a nation
God is not the face of mega churches or popular religious leaders
He isn’t enclosed within in stained glass or marble.
That is all idolatry.
Who thinks he can elect a savior of a nation, the world?
God doesn’t need a vote to be Sovereign.
He doesn’t mock women, the poor, the disabled
Rather, He holds them up in His care and protects them.
God doesn’t condemn people, He forgives them and stands against those who do condemn.
God doesn’t save me to put my faith in politics or religious bodies
But he does humble me, correct me and gives me the strength to say that there is no better show of idolatry in this election then by the very people who claim faith in a sovereign God. Myself included.
For me, for you, for anyone to tell another – God says you must vote this way for His will to be done, he is a liar.
We are all strategically placed in different circumstances, in different skin and ethnic backgrounds, coming from different experiences so that we are passionate about the dignity and care for all people. We can have differences of opinion and perspectives except on one thing, either God is God or He isn’t.
We each vote our conscience, at the end of the day He has control.
Personally, I was more concerned about a despicable man like Trump elected POTUS until I realized it is more a grievance that many in the church are giving no more hope or inspiration to a hurting, volatile world than Politics.
The bigger picture? Stop the idolatry.
Stand up for peace, protection, human dignity, freedom and healing for all Americans before and after the election no matter who wins.
I voted for Hillary. I voted my heart and conscience.
I cannot understand why anyone would dismiss and minimize the issue of sexual assault, degradation of women, abuse of power, pathological lying, narcissism, greed, arrogance, pride, etc… especially by people of faith. I don’t get it!
But there are people of faith on all sides of the isle and all have different passions, concerns that God himself has given to each person. None of us should be so arrogant to mock His will and perfection by the politics we play. None of us can say, ‘Vote for so and so’ in the name of God or for God. No, that is human superiority and idolatry speaking. At the end of the day you might find God isn’t on either side and need to look for Him elsewhere.
Lord, I failed again. Once again I wanted Trump to fall off a cliff or something. Forgive me. I’m trying so hard. Help me focus on you and trust you. Amen
I never thought I would see this in my lifetime!
Way to go Cubs, Dat’s my Team 😉
Mom, I know you’re smiling too up there!
