I wish my life were notes, not emotions

then the world could play it

as a beautiful thing

I wish I was a tropic island

greeting the war lorn to paradise

and rest

I wish my dams would break

into seas and not lives

that could drown

I wish I had a heart to say

I’d stay for you

but I’m too stubborn to make you

suffer my troubles anymore

I wish I were an island

off the coast of nowhere

no longer needing find

I wish I was crazy

to admit the world

is coming to an end

See I’d rather be a song

than a hum

of foreboding

for whatever pride is

it is all I have left

to salvage

I now want to be alone

in this making

as my own mistake

and not yours

in the trusting
